Dublin Institute of Technology, Aungier Street, Dublin 2

Description:

This project constructed for D.I.T Aungier Street, is an extension to the existing business school. Comprising of a basement carpark and six floors above basement with rooftop plant rooms.
The building contains lectures theatres, library on two floors, offices, study rooms, dining area and leisure area.
The construction was mainly of in-situ concrete with tanked retaining walls to the basement. Wall cladding consists of brick/block to the Bishop Street elevation with extensive areas of stone cladding and curtain walling. The remaining elevations were of block construction, finished in decorative plaster, also with extensive curtain walling. Roofing consisted of metal standing seam sheeting and trocal single ply membrane laid on insulation.
The project was constructed on a tight site which was part of a busy third level campus and in addition was fronting onto a busy street and surrounded by occupied apartments. These restrictions required continuous input from our management in co-ordination meetings etc with the various parties involved and in monitoring our compliance with safety and noise regulations etc.
