New Library facility for WIT, to cater for expanding student numbers. This three-storey building is largely an in-situ fairfaced concrete frame with all slab soffits, columns etc exposed. There is an extensive fairfaced masonry internally and the external unglazed sections are white bricks and white plaster. There is extensive use of curtain walling and strip window glazing. Standing seam roof on glulam beams to north elevation, other roofs in asphalt and promisol cladding to plant rooms. Highly serviced with raised access floors and over 500 online terminals and the building uses night cooling technology. The fit out is to a high standard with extensive use of ash joinery. The building won the C.I.F./Department of the Environment sustainability award 1999.
